The grand imam of Egypt’s Al-Azhar honored the winners of Al-Azhar Annual ‎Competition for Memorizing the Noble Quran.

Sheikh Ahmad al-Tayyeb affirmed ‎Al-Azhar’s appreciation of its students ‎who memorize the Quran, and declared them the best ‎ambassadors of the Islamic center.

He decided to double the reward for the top five ‎category 1 contestants, and thus category 1 first place prize ‎becomes 200,000 EGP. The total number of contestants added ‎up to 180,000 students, out of which 59,000 ‎passed the initial test. Then, 18,000 students passed the ‎second stage test, while 1,202 went through the final round for selecting the top ten all over the country. So, 80 students won ‎first place at the level of the republic, 20 in each of the ‎four levels.‎

In the initial round, Esra El-Sayed Saad Muhammed came first, ‎winning a prize of 200,000 EGP; while Ziyad Muhammed ‎Mustafa came second, winning a prize of 190,000 EGP. Then, ‎Ahmed Gamal Es-Sayed Hashish won the third place, receiving ‎a 180,00 EGP prize, while Iman Wael Ahmed Gharib, ‎came fourth, receiving a 170,000 EGP prize, and the ‎fifth winner was Malak Walid Kamel Ibrahim, earning a ‎‎160,000 EGP prize.‎

In the second level of the competition, Muhammad Wael ‎Ahmed Gharib came first place (100,000 EGP), Heba Abdel-‎Jalil Al-Guyoushi second (95,000 EGP), Ahlam Rabih ‎Muhammad Ahmed third (90,000 EGP), Farha Ibrahim Sayed ‎Ibrahim fourth (85,000 EGP), and Muhammad Mahmoud Ali ‎Al-Banna fifth (80,000 EGP).‎

In the third level, Tasneem Tariq Asaker came first (50,000 EGP), ‎and in the fourth level, Muhammad Abder-Rahman Kamel ‎Abdulaziz ranked first (40,000 EGP).‎

A total of ‎650 arbitrators participated in the first stage, while 230 ‎arbitrators ran the second stage, knowing that the Quran ‎Review Committee participated in the final stage arbitration to ‎select the top ten winners at the level of the country.‎

It is worth noting that the annual Al-Azhar Competition for ‎Memorizing the Noble Quran is open for students of Al-Azhar ‎schools, students of Quran Memorization Classes (kuttab) supervised ‎by Al-Azhar, and Al-Azhar Ruwaq students. It aims at ‎encouraging Quran memorization and studies among the youth, ‎mining for creative talents among them, and preparing them ‎to participate in international forums and Noble Quran ‎competitions.
